I had been seeing more and more “Line Art” and couldn’t help but see that 3D printing would be the perfect medium to give a new spin on 2D line art.

I found some line art i liked and imported into my software. I used Splines to trace out some of the lines i wanted, then used offsets to create a line width. I chose a line width of 1/16″ . That seemed to look proportional to the 9″ maximum size of my 3d printer.

The prints turned out amazing, and i was thinking of getting some line drawing 2D prints to hang in my bedroom, so I decided to try mounting a 3D print onto a 12″ canvas.

The prints stuck perfectly onto the canvas with a few dabs of super glue along the bottom.

Once I figured out how to sketch the line art so that it would slice nicely, i wanted to start experimenting more. The next thing i tried to do was print my signature.
